Benefitting how? They were a drain on the Portuguese economy.
Portugal invested more in the colonies infrastructures than in the country itself. The carnation revolution had a few reasons and one of them being that despite the government stubborness, the Portuguese people did not want to keep the colonies.


It was also the first country in the entire world to abolish slavery (European Portugal, that is)


I would say it is a BIG difference in comparing wars

Why would you drive drunk?


Just a simple Google search reveals that 14000 humanitarian aid trucks entered the strip since the start of the war but it seems a lot of them were vandalized/raided by civilians and Palestinian criminal groups trying to capitalize on the desperation of people.
So it is not a complete siege with NO AID as the OP says. Just to bring another view on this echo chamber of “Israel =evil”.
