Planning to prolly get:

A rak wireless kit for a local repeater on my roof powered via PoE, and then a TTGO TEcho for my personal device.

I know that I should just get the latter and play with it first, but I live high on a hill with a great vantage point of the city so feels like a disservice to the community if I don’t also host a repeater.

One thing I’m curious about, is if I use it via poe, can I also send messages via the repeater? I.e. locally from my network initiate a message through my repeater?

I would want it in repeater mode so it would forward any message even ones I don’t have the encryption key for.

How do I do this? Shats the easiest way to get started?

Duckduckgo is bing. They route their searches there afaik. It’s just a privacy layer, like startpage is a privacy layer on Google.

I think it’s highly likely the app collects far more data than it should on you. And there are probably subtle things they can do to manipulate the broad sentiment without entirely changing everyone’s feeds. That being said, yes, the algorithm really is just what you make it to be.

I just imagine if there’s something that the government doesn’t like they identify, it disappears. But TikTok is so big it’s hard to catch everything I’m sure. Even with AI etc…

I’m unsure. I use jerboa, maybe it’s that. But search doesn’t really search the content of posts. I.e. how I can google something, include reddit in the search terms, and find a relevant post(s)

Now. Fuck google, but I want to be able to do the equivalent with Lemmy posts.

Discord is the worst. The siloing of tons of information that should be publicly searchable and accessible via a public forum, but instead it’s siloed off into this closed wall with shitty search.

I actually wish Lemmy was better searchable as well. I think Lemmy could be way better and drive adoption if it had a cross instance search engine / indexer.

This aligns with how I care for mine. Scrub it with a chainmail scrubber, Wash it with soap / watwr, then rinse dry over flame and then drizzle a but of oil and rub with a paper towel.

I have no reverence for my cast iron besides avoiding letting it sit wet for a long time.
