I again want to recommend DietPi. Installing software like NextCloud from it is as easy as choosing it from a menu and hitting enter.

Don’t forget the Napster-version of a Madonna-track, where after some time she stopped singing and started scolding the listener: “What the fuck do you think you are doing, stealing my music?!” or something like that. It was pretty wild in the Old Net.
I was a huge Windows-fanboy for +20 years. Then I slowly started getting familiar with Linux Mint. Since a couple of years we have no more Windows in our house.
I used to fix computer problems for people a lot, for fun. Last week, I booted a Windows 11 laptop to help a friend and I was put off by EVERYTHING. The nagging popups, ads, the dubious ad-riddled webpages I have to visit to download apps. It’s all crazy evil. And still people bullshit-bingo me that “Linux is so complicated, you need to learn so much” while constantly fighting off predatory shit from soulless corporations. They don’t even know what using a computer that works for you means anymore.
I’ll have my first Install Party next week. I will install Linux Mint because it is easy and well documented. I’ll bring a laptop with a clean install. So I can teach some basics while the installations are running.
Check the map at End of 10, maybe there is a place close to you?
I installed this for less then 20€ and can’t live without it anymore. I use a few toilet papers to dry my butt, it’s already absolutely clean 90% of the time. My whole family can’t go back to just wipe.
I just installed DietPi on my new ThinClient. I use it on Raspberry Pi for years and I really like it. Is super lightweight and comes with lots of preconfigured software.
Exponential growth!
Agreed. The phrasing “lightweight justice” always sounded strange to me as well. They could definitely go with a friendlier, more mainstream design.
You sound like you need a hug. What can I say? Life has always been a scam for many, but we didn’t hear most of their stories. Now we do and it sometimes affects our mental health. I try to focus on stuff I can make a difference. I wish you all the best, take care.
Kurzgesagt explained it very well
An average broiler chicken diet is composed of 42.8% corn and 26.4% soybeans for protein, and about 14% bakery meal.
Edit: 25 million chicken are getting killed daily in the US.
I used to love cheese and I agree. There is no perfect replacement, yet. Making udder cheese is complicated (and weird!) and thousands of years old, plant based cheese just a decade. If you’re not ready to make compromises, then start somewhere else. You don’t have to go all in, change step by step. Choose a meal that you like to cook and veganise it. Or learn a new one, there are billions of modern and traditional recipes from around the world.
Buy oat milk and stick with it for a couple of weeks. It’s just a taste, you will learn to like it eventually.
You’re wrong about buying local, though. Transport is only about 2% of the emissions at the most.
“Human workers are treated badly” ticks the Vegan Bullshit Bingo #23:
There are more important subjects
Absolutely! Fortunately, being vegan doesn’t mean you can’t care about anything else. We have to eat either way. Why not something ethically and ecologically justifiable, then? We hardly have such a big lever as through our choice of food - 3x a day. And a look at the environmental, humanitarian and global health consequences of animal-based foods quickly shows how important and urgent this issue is, and how much people and the environment benefit from it.
Yes I could. But I’d swap the cheese and milk-stuff for a plant based alternative, because of the suffering, the destruction and the annihilation that comes with animal agriculture. I don’t want to pay for this, be a part of it just because I was raised accustomed to the taste. There are great alternatives. But first, you gotta educate yourself, watch the videos. I used to be just as irritated as you.
Had to look up Virtue signalling. Yes sir, I do. The character is fictional, but the killer hUmOuR is real. Bacon btw. Enjoy your upvotes.
Haha, he killed the Peppa Pig! Get it?? Because WE kill pigs too and eat them. So funny, right!? A dead pig like the millions of others, haha! Now I want a sandwich, haha!
I use Syncthing to sync DCIM and Pictures folders from Android to my computer. Every six month or so, I move pictures from these folder to the folder for this years pictures: home/pictures/2025. So they disappear from my phone as well, which is great to free up space. This works great for me.
Synching is incredibly useful, my list of synced folders keeps getting longer, my list of added devices keeps growing. I pray the never drop android support!
