6·6 days agoJust watched the video. It’s hilarious that it breaks the glass, pauses for a few awkward moments, bats its eyes, backs up, then just sits there batting its eyes.

6·6 days agoThere’s a kid’s book called Positive Ninja where the advice is to reframe situations using the word yet. As in, I haven’t been successful in accomplishing this yet. With this kind of positive thinking going around, those robots better have a care. 😉

Technology@lemmy.world•Anthropic says its latest AI model is too powerful for public release and that it broke containment during testingEnglish
6·8 days agoYawn, we all know how this goes. So what model am I not supposed to use? I’ll be sure and avoid it, though I’d much rather avoid downloading their leaked weights like I avoid other things I’m not supposed to download.

3·8 days agoClearly SaaS isn’t working out, so just open source all the frontier models and stop building data centers so we can all buy our own GPUs.

6·10 days agoReminds me of this classic Andy Griffith Show scene from the Opie and the Bully episode.
“So you want to fight? Step across this line. Alright, knock this off my shoulder, I dare you. So you wanna fight huh? Just step inside this circle.” 😆

8·11 days agoI can see where an AI that fucks everything up all the time might be entertaining like a good slapstick comedy, but nah, Resident Evil Requiem is sufficient entertainment for now.

49·11 days agoReading Tesla workers shared images from car cameras, including “scenes of intimacy” was enough to put me off Tesla. The build quality being garbage and Musk also being a garbage human being make the company just a complete waste of space.

At least the crew for this mission includes a black guy and a woman, unlike the 24 white dudes who crewed the Apollo missions.

121·14 days agoSLS has gotten a lot of well-deserved hate for being an expendable money pit. All that aside, damn, it lifted off with humans in it and off to the moon! There’s no other currently available rocket that can do that, including Starship.

8·14 days agoThe coal miners were told to learn to code, but maybe software engineers should be learning coal mining at this point. With all the AI data centers being built, there sure is going to be a lot of demand for coal.

Technology@lemmy.world•Steam On Linux Use Skyrocketed In March - More Than Double The macOS Gaming MarketshareEnglish
4·14 days agoYep, I’d really like to stick to SoCs in the future as well. I’m holding off on hardware purchases until 2027 when AMD’s RDNA 5 will be available. Apple Silicon is amazing, but I’d like a less expensive alternative that has broader Linux distro support. RDNA 5 will bring true RTX cores, which is critical for my Blender rendering workloads, and is the main reason why I couldn’t justify AMD GPUs in the past for anything other than a dedicated gaming machine (e.g., Steam Deck).

13·14 days agoMy friend was part of the layoff and said they are providing 2 weeks of benefits. So, no health insurance after 2 weeks. It’s barbaric that access to healthcare is tied to employers in this country.

Yeah, “best politician” isn’t really a compliment. The best ones are good liars who commit egregious acts while retaining a base that still worships them. Trump is formidable in that respect, though I think Obama is better. Obama did a lot of shitty things and is still widely adored, whereas most of the population will readily admit Trump is a piece of shit.
