Murmillo has the most styling helm, so I’m going for that.
Hell yeah
Secutor specially designed to fight retrarii. I’ll have all your tridents.
I hate them all. Dunno what it is about a couple of thousand years that makes people fail to recognize the humanity of others, the horror and atrocity.
I remember seeing a claim that Trax used to destroy Murmilo, because the big shield was a hindrance in one on one combat. The speed and agility of the smaller shield was much better. The big shields worked well in units to make a shield wall, but less so in an arena
I’m not actually very well-versed on gladiators, because it’s one aspect of Roman history that doesn’t fascinate me, for whatever reason - but I do know for sure that there were certain ‘pairings’ of gladiator types that were considered uneven (and thus all the more fun to bet on).
i don’t know but I would run like a miserable creature
Retiarius, got it!
(One of the legitimate tactics of the Retiarius - and why it was sometimes seen as the least ‘manly’ of the gladiator types - was simply to evade their heavier opponent until their opponent was exhausted)
He’s called thusly because he retreats
Ask that big dead guy whether he’d rather be manly or alive
The answer might surprise you!
Retiarius, gimme that net and trident
Scissor just straight up “fuck it we ball” with a shiv and a prosthetic hatchet arm is pretty metal.
Horror movie hours
Retiarius, because cheap tricks are fun.
“cheap” is sore loser talk for optimal - nothing but net 🏀
Secutors have always been my favorite. I love their fish-man helmets.
Interesting enough, there’s symbolism there! Both the Murmillo and Secutor have fish motifs about them, and were often paired up against the Retiarius - fish against fisherman!
VLC-Gladiator
Cestus! Put my money on the boy who walks into a swordfight straight throwin hands.
Put 'em up!
Murmillo
It does seem the most practical.
Both middle, bottom left, all seem interesting.
Trident and net. It has more range than the other options.
Trax, that feather is stylish
