I assume they can feel the higher pressure and maybe the temperature aswell. The smell could also be an indicator that this is not the probably already experienced liquid from above.

1·11 days agoI’ve never experienced that. Either the people are thankful or do not react at all.
I think that depends on your hobbies and interests.

2·25 days agoI see. Thanks. To be clear: I do not know it. It was an assumption I made. I tried to indicate that by using the word may. When I post/comment stuff I usually do not use software to assist me phrasing it or to correct my grammar on purpose. I want to interact genuinely. Sometimes I look up single words in the dictionary as english is not my first language. My hope is that most of my contributions are still more or less comprehensible. (And if not, we can talk about misunderstandings just like now.)

1·28 days agoHow do you see what languages they selected?
So you mean other users or an entire instance? Besides assumptions by looking at posts (and guess/recognize) you can’t see which languages are selected. When you are referring to yourself, well, I guess that depends on your browser and operating system among other things.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•but seriously this fast food situation is getting out of control [Tommy Siegel]English
1·1 month agoFirst, all those restaurants in the comic offer franchises to entrepreneurs. It is common for most entrepreneurs to go with franchises since they are easier to run
Fair enough. But when I think about entrepeneurship, motivation and health comes/stays with some kind of passion rather than earning money “quick and dirty”.
I like to see it when they bring some passion to the table, by really like to cook, bake and/or host guests that want to have a somehow more or less special moment. A delicious lunch or snack during a break, a date, a birthday party, you name it. While the surrounding is just pleasant for them and their staff.
Second, Toast is becoming big with independent restaurants. So, there is a way for independent restaurants to have loyalty programs and run an app.
I’ve never heard of it. I looked it up. For me its a trap that ultimately result in even more pressure and less focus on the original object(s) of the company. It may support the administrative tasks behind the scenes, granted, but technology which replaces most human interactions and relations will make the restaurant loose its appeal (if it had one in the first place).
If you are a owner with some kind of passion described above I think you gain genuine loyalty in return. You could offer your guest(s) free stuff coming on the house, give a discount and give them a geniune feeling of being welcome and treated with respect. In my opinion thats way more worthy - for all those who are involved.

4·1 month agoFrom my POV (which might collide with reality (yes, please unconfuse me)) the density of fast-food chains in the US is pretty high, but I mean, come on, the size of the land you use is not small.
If your body craves for some burger or the like there could be plenty of alternatives, no? What is it that attracts people to these products?
I’ve been told not just a few of you are proud of entrepreneurs within family/friends or being one themselves. At least some of them could be owner-operated restaurants or diners. No one’s forced to buy from the big players.

2·1 month agoYeah. The overall look of the photo is kinda retrofuturistic in my opinion. The thing could be a ticket booth for nearby bumper cars or other amusement rides like this.
Probably you can not see much including my other post, as a result of no chosen language(s) in your settings. Look at this hint and not just for local communities (the ones created on https://lemmy.world/), there are plenty on other servers.

3·1 month agoSo it might be stationary now, but only because it seems abadoned or it is not getting any/enough maintenance lately. I think in theory it should have moved a while ago or it may be some sort of trick to fool ordinary people so they assume the police presence at this site with this “equipment” is a response to a temporary actual or declared state of that particular area.

41·1 month agoDoes this thing move on a regular basis? It seems more like a mobile office parking nearby next to a site where crime or protest might happen or is being expected. And beside the cameras more dangerous for the police force itself. Or is it just a prop of a funfair?
Pictured: Guys go on a field trip to experience some kind of freedom, the outside world, but before you could turn around they’ve grown up real fast. (The picture was published over 10 years ago.)
Edit: A joke that needs to be explained may not be a good one. Anyway. I was referring to preschool kids, which I see from time to time walking publicy within groups while some/all of them are wearing this kind of vests. And because some armies tend to recruit young adults or even teenagers I came up with my original post above.

2·1 month ago(Don’t mind me, am just commenting here to remember this post and the comments published so far, I read them all just now - but just bookmarking and saving them does not help my brain to save and retrieve all the information for a long-enough period of time. In the past I was dumb and published too much information about me, including photos.
Do you think its (more) dangerous or (slightly) helpful to login again after years of inactivity, probably need to agree to new TOS, and afterwards “delete” them myself or just leave it as is?
Are there any recent resources provided by civil rights organisations or political bodies, courts or similar with some recommendations in that matter? (I am an EU citizen.)
