Huh, yet another KDE app. It seems they all build on the same base, with increasing feature richness:
Kwrite => Kate => Kdevelop
?

kdevelop
Huh, yet another KDE app. Installed now. Seems to be just as suitable for my needs as Kate even though it says to be centered around C/C++. Unlike Kate it has something called LSP which might help with automatically adding closing tags; but I have yet to figure out how to activate this. — Huh, Kate has this too. Reading up on it in the Archwiki now.
VS Code/Codium seems to be omnipresent when diving into the topic, but I just don’t like that it’s controlled by MS, even if these are opensource.

What’s an LSP here?
edit: OK this has come up a lot in this post. reading up on it, installing packages. Hopefully it’s not too hard to get it to work.

And I hope it stays that way until the matter is resolved. Much better deterrent than fines.
We need to teach big multinationals that they can’t just ignore local law.

Right now I wonder if construction is/remains stopped until the matter is resolved. That would really show them to stop messing with local law.
edit: it looks like this is the case ✊ - for how long though.

Adding insult to injury:
The US-based company operates an AI training platform named Outlier, which employs more than 900,000 “freelance” workers.
Or rather more injury to injury.
Thanks noyb, we really need to stay vigilant. It’s clear that US companies have almost no oversight at home, and expect the same to be the case everywhere.

As of the fourth quarter of 2025, there were approximately 201.82 million people employed in the European Union.
So a fifth of the EU workforce already. Damn.

Yeah it’s pretty cynical. Orwellian. 2+2=5 type of shit.

I totally agree, and thanks for new info re the “law on ethnic unity” (shudder).
I remain skeptical though.
Ah well, let’s see what he actually does. Maybe he will suprise us all and at least mention some of these things.

Ctrl-Shift-t restores a recently closed tab in my browser, and does nothing on my desktop.
Don’t really see the symbolic here.
Ctrl-Alt-t however opens a terminal.

11 more maybe?

I think I’ve seen Spongebob’s Patrick looking like that.

Traditionally Catholicism has never been even slightly compatible with Socialism. Except that one time in the 1930s/40s. And that wasn’t really socialism.

I keep coming back to the horrified astonishment I felt in late 2025. It was kinda excusable in 2016. But after already having seen what he did to the country for 4 years, and then after Jan 6…
And mind you, my demented, ever conservative, ever pro-capitalist and btw also pro-apartheid father, even he thinks Trump is an idiot who should be nowhere near political power.
What’s the answer here? Seems the USA have a deeper problem. I think it’s that particularly poisonous combination of consumer capitalism on steroids, and generations of lack of or plain bad education that’s often more aligned with capitalist interests. Oh and the history of “The American Dream”, i.e. hope that you’re the one out of a thousand who succeeds in raping everything and everyone around you for financial gain.

Pinnipeds (pronounced /ˈpɪnɪˌpɛdz/), commonly known as seals, are widely distributed and diverse carnivorous, fin-footed, semiaquatic, mostly marine mammals, belonging to the clade Pinnipedia. They comprise the extant families Odobenidae (whose only living member is the walrus), Otariidae (the eared seals: sea lions and fur seals), and Phocidae (the earless seals, or true seals), with 34 extant species and more than 50 extinct species described from fossils.

it’s not like democrats are pro Medicare for all anyway.
True
It would be the exact same outcome.
False

doG, it looks like a seal!

It’s interesting that the catholic church is interested in AI, but don’t think that that’s a pro-AI argument.
Pope Leo XIV issued his sweeping manifesto calling for the robust regulation of artificial intelligence,
It seems the Vatican accidentally gave a platform and a prompt to the most melted tech bros, but that manifesto is called “Magnifica humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence”.
The executives’ philosophy goes something like this: that religion can help inform AI to be morally good in an environment where fears about it — founded and unfounded — are hopscotching across the culture.
Yeah, no, you completely misunderstood why you were invited. I hope.
And that’s what I have to say on the topic of AI and religion. Not that I am religious. But fuck anybody who wants to use this as a pro-AI argument.

Or to make people pay up for empty promises?

I do most small edits in nano these days. Trying to switch to micro, nano’s syntax highlighting is far from perfect, and micro’s impressed me.
But if it’s something even slightly more complex I go for a GUI code editor.
Strangely, I much prefer writing Markdown with the GUI variant, too.
