  • I was not the one who wrote the 50% statement, but no worries.

Your statement was,“Fully reversable if you ever want kids,” and that is simply not true. I am not saying that i know better than licensed physicans i am saying that the actual data that you just posted agrees with me. A vasectomy may be reversible, if you decide for it in less than three years it may even be likely. But if you decide for a vasectomy you should not consider that as an viable option because the chances are not very good.

Conpared to the OPs statements, a vasectomy is a far better choice That heavily depends, if you are in a relationship and 100% to someday have kids a vasectomy is the worse choice cause it lowers your chances of achieving that dream (according tou your sources after just three years 30-50%…).

the woman suffer a full surgery with abdominal pains and scar tissue with a tubal ligation. Yeah, okay buddy.

This i a strawman argument and you should know that. Not once have i argued for a tubual ligitation as a viable alternative for a reversible procedure. I am glad to discuss everything but let’s try to maintain some good discussion conventions and not just imagine new arguments.

Edit: from your source “Even if sperm return, pregnancy rates are lower (30-70%) and depend on partner’s fertility as well.” So one in three people wont be able to conceive in the realistic best case scenario.

  • Something i have thought about for some time. Do we only have one consciousness? Like if you literally split your brain in half via operation suddenly you got two brain halves tha’t can not communicate with each other in any way. Do you now have 2 personalities and consciousness? If yes, why don’t you have them before? Maybe you always have two but they are just in agreement. And why stop at two? There are some interviews with siamese twins (the teacher sisters for example) and it’s so interesting to see how they talk. They finish each other sentences which is natural i guess but they also say “ehh” when the other one doesn’t know a word. It’s like a single person talking. I am not arguing they are distinctive persons. Just some random thoughts.

  • Contact info gets hashed in a clever way which doesn’t send your info (although i guess phone number hashes could be brute forced?) Meta data is also not available. They have no way to know who you are talking to. The only info they have is that you logged ij with a ip at a time. I believe they can’t even reliable track how many messages you send. Even with a compromised server most of the magic happens in the open source client side app so that they can’t gather very much. I understand your concerns about popular centralized services but i really believe that they are unfound with signal.

  • Can’t read the whole article due to paywall. Here are 2 thoughts for the half that i did read.

    • colorectal cancer makes a lot of sense as a target. it still is one of the most cancers with the highest mortality. At the same time we saw an uptick in colorectal cancer rates in young people (reason unknown, maybe microplastics maybe something else.). Furthemore colorectal cancer seems to be a great target for immunsystem modulating therapy. There was a paper 3 years bake in I think the NEJM where they put 18/18 (exact N not sure) patients in remission with PD-1 modulation which also activates the immun system.

    • Astra Zeneca (I believe) is also working on a mRNA vaccine for cancer that is quite far along. They are targeting melanoma in remission and reduced reoccurence of melanoma or metastasis after 3 years by 50%. So it seems like mRNA cancer vaccines will be a strong pillar for future cancer treatements.

Sadly we saw in the past that russia sometimes bolsters their numbers for medication efficency. I hope it is not the case this time but i hope that the phase 2/3 trials will be very transparent to quench any doubts.

  • Did we read the same article? The point is that for some people it resulted in no viral load even without drugs over a prolonged time.

In a study published last year, Goulder described how all five remained in remission, despite having not received regular antiretroviral medication for some time, and in one case, up to 17 months. In the decadeslong search for an HIV cure, this offered a tantalizing insight: that the first widespread success in curing HIV might not come in adults, but in children.

Instead, like Goulder, pediatricians have increasingly noticed that after starting antiretroviral treatment early in life, a small subpopulation of children then seem able to suppress HIV for months, years, and perhaps even permanently with their immune system alone.

  • I will use the server for photos, videos, backups from my PC via borg and as a media server so i wanted to start with approximately 6TB. Budget without the harddrives is under 500€, currently looking at a refurbished optiplex 3060 with an Intel I3-8100T as a miniPC for server usage and then some used NAS system from Terramaster. Do you mean building a multibay NAS myself? I looked into it and it didn’t seem really cheaper compared to buying used/refurbished.
