I remember pure website games too. There was some alien one where you had a certain amount of energy to use for the day. You could work out, attack other aliens or a few other things. Didn’t cost anything to play. It was hard starting out because higher level guys could attack you. I remember putting a note: “please stop attacking me.” One person attacked and said: “no.”

Fellow vet: I never understood fellow service member’s blind servitude to the GOP. They fuck us over ever chance they get, and we’re dogs at a dog show for them only when it’s convenient. When they show up at a base, it’s either a completely scripted Q&A, with questions vetted weeks to months ahead of time, or they show and are guided around by the base commander and make a super quick appearance at whatever event.

My favorite was the 1 time Cathy McMorris did a debate. She touted helping 100’s of vets a month. Her opponent: “If you are really helping the vets, you wouldn’t have 100’s a month with issues.”

Well fuck. Maybe we can hold out until us Gen Xers are too old to vote or die off as well.

We may have a perfect storm, so to speak. Economic stupidity will lose them dominance. However, hopefully, by the time they would gain again we’ll have a die off of boomers and other retired that come out to vote more now. We’ll have a refresh of retired voters. Gen X is coming up. From my small sample of us, we’re more Democrat leaning. Hopefully a wider sample size is the same.

How am I supposed to organize a mobilization of people in a country that is 2,800 miles (4506km) east to west and 1660 miles (2671km) north to south? How do I communicate where to meet up? How do I ensure our targets don’t get wind of it? How do I ensure everyone is there? How do I make sure we get every leader that is going to need to be ousted? How do I ensure they’re even going to be there? How do we find all of the money backers that want this crap? How do we decide who should lead this new leadership chain without starting another fight? How do we ensure that the military doesn’t just mow us down when we try? If I can’t lead this charge, who does? How do I find someone willing, and is actually capable of leading this charge? How do I ensure I don’t just have some trigger happy yahoos that will shoot anything remotely a target before anything starts? How do I ensure we don’t have bad actor there to tank it all (and there are plenty)?

Look, I see what you’re saying. I’m pissed off. This isn’t supposed to be the country I was raised in. It had many issues. This isn’t the country that I raised my hand to fuck my body up for.

I’d love to pick up my weapons, drive the 2 weeks across the country, and do something about it all. I have kids. I know, I know, what the future holds for them is much worse than homelessness. That is still a rough pill to swallow. I’m a frog on a hot plate. That hot plate is thousands of miles across to get off. It is surrounded by 100’s of other hot plates that have to be dealt with to stop the heat. Some of which I wouldn’t even be able to find, or would be constantly moving around with the capability I have to mobilize (jet vs driving).

Do I flee the country? Do I stay and fight back the best I can? I can’t flee. I can’t work due to severe medical issues (another rub in this entire thing, how do I ensure everyone is able bodied enough to help). No one is going to take me in. The best I can do is arm and stock like I should be wearing tin foil on my head. Try to be as self sustaining as we can. A garden. Some chickens that will end up having to be guarded by Brinks soon. Then vote for the shit sandwich that doesn’t have glass in it and is covered in barbed wire. Try to help my kids see why this is all bad. To differentiate good sources and bad sources of information. Weed out logical fallacies. Pick out gas lighting. Try to prepare them for a better future that opens more options for them. One that allows them to leave the country if needed. How to participate and make things better, and why they should participate in voting and other such things.

This right here is a big issue. It breeds “I got mine”, and I see it constantly.

Why do people need welfare programs? I’m not struggling. (literally said to me last week from an ex coworker) Why should I have to pay for other people’s health care? Why are people worried about jobs? I was able to find one easily. I don’t understand why people can’t save money. I can do it easily. Why do we need disability help? I can work when I’m injured.

All of these results of the mentality of “We’re number 1!” We’re number 1, so there is no way that there are problems. See! Look! I am not struggling! So no one else can possibly be struggling either!

I’m not sure the time he has left in him but, while he is up and going, he…we should be grooming his replacement. Not AOC either. Not that she wouldn’t be a good one. IIRC, when the remaster was in the works, they were asking for files from the community as some of the cut scene videos from OG were lost. I think there are a few low def ones in there still because no one had them. There’s also an issue with the Nod ending theme song. I only have it because I had the game on Saturn and you could play them like regular CDs once you got past the information tracks. So I burned it in .flac.

it’s about a 50/50 at my local base. The vets, on the other hand, tend to lean towards tRUmp. I have never gotten it either. Our regional congressman, or ex now, never did jack shit for us. When PACT was first shot down, I had to actually explain why that was a bad thing and that we needed it. They bought every last fake talking point. I had actually read the measure. Anyone that did had seen why it was a good thing.

We have a problem of propagation of fake news on bases. A lot of them show faux on the TVs in waiting areas. On top of that, it tends to be conservatives that join. Officers do tend to be less red. I really don’t know what would happen if the military actually fulfilled its oath to protect against the domestic threat part of our oath.

It is disgusting hearing fellow vets with the “I got mine” attitude, or other attitudes that are directly against the nature of service. That isn’t what we were serving for.

On top of this. It isn’t just Dump. It’s the entire GOP. Plus the douche crew and his nazi youth that have been ransacking shit that they don’t understand. Yeah, going in armedmay get you 1 person. It won’t do any good. You’re cutting a small scale off of a large shit snake.

The best we can do is arm ourselves (and I fucking hate that I have to resort to this option) and prep for when shit goes south. I suspect that will be mid terms. We’ll see armed yokels “guarding” vote drop off locations and polling locations. If there is any sign of a dem win anywhere, all hell will break loose with diaperdon claiming fraud. He’ll probably pull some shit like his attempted coup and we’ll see the polling station yokels going nuts.

I’m anxious to see it as well. I would love to see something like this implemented into games, and focused solely on whatever game it’s in. I imagine something like Skyrim but with a LLM on every character, or at least the main ones. I downloaded the mod that adds it to Skyrim now, but I haven’t had the chance to play with it. It does require prompts for the NPC to let you know you’re talking to it. I’d love to see a natural thing. Even NPCs carrying out their own natural conversations with each other and not with the PC.

I’ve also been watching the Vivaladirt people. We need a 4th wall breaking npc in every game when we get a llm like above.

I ran a campaign by myself with 2 of my characters. I had DS act as DM. It seemed to handle it all perfectly fine. I tested it later and gave it scenarios. I asked it to roll the dice and show all its work. Dice rolls, any bonuses, any advantage/disadvantage. It got all of it right.

I then tested a few scenarios to check and see if it would follow the rules as they are supposed to be from 5e. It got all of that correct as well. It did give me options as if the rules were corrected (I asked it to roll damage as a barbarian casting fireball, it said barbs couldn’t, but gave me reasons that would allow exceptions).

What it ended up flubbing on later was forgetting the proper initiative order. I had to remind it a couple times that it messed it up. This only happened way later in the campaign. So I think I was approaching the limits of its memory window.

I tried the distilled locally. It didn’t even realize I was asking it to DM. It just repeating the outline of the campaign.

I’ve been sorting plans with family and friends as well. Unfortunately, most of my neighbors are idiots and bought it all hook line and sinker. When COVID started, the guy 2 doors down from me tried to say that the dew on our vehicles one morning was the AF dropping COVID from the tankers. I think I saw the moment the gerbil wheel in his head froze up when I told him I’ve seen them inside and out and that there was nowhere for some “bags of COVID” to be stored.

I have some firearms, but I’ve been making an effort to ready myself. I’ve been making sure I have short, mid and long range covered. Sights on and the sights adjusted properly. I hate, hate, hate how crazy that makes me sound, but I don’t trust these nut jobs at all when things get rough. I don’t have any option for leaving the country, and I don’t think I’d want to leave it to them anyway. I swore an oath many, many, years ago. I’m long out. My body is wrecked (mainly my nervous system), but I still take that seriously. Many others do as well. I can only hope that those of us who actually realize what it means are able to keep the corrupt from taking over.

I’ve spent all week working with DeepSeek to write DnD campaigns based on artifacts from the game Dark Age of Camelot. This week was just on one artifact.

AI/LLMs are great for bouncing ideas off of and using it to tweak things. I gave it a prompt on what I was looking for (the guardian of dusk steps out and says: “the dawn brings the warmth of the sun, and awakens the world. So does your trial begin.” He is a druid and the party is a party of 5 level 1 players. Give me a stat block and XP amount for this situation.

I had it help me fine tune puzzle and traps. Fine tune the story behind everything and fine tune the artifact at the end (it levels up 5 levels as the player does specific things to gain leveling points for just the item).

I also ran a short campaign with it as the DM. It did a great job at acting out the different NPCs that it created and adjusting to both the tone and situation of the campaign. It adjusted pretty good to what I did as well.

As much as I agree, it will take things getting a lot worse before people do anything like that. A lot of the most heavily armed are the ones who voted for this. The pickup full of hillbillies are still in the denial phase. They still think things won’t affect them, or that it’ll be temporary. They are all for “those people” taking the brunt of the actions right now. They’ve convinced themselves that only the “libtards” are affected, and they aren’t.

It’s going to take a deep hit to their way of life for anything more than peaceful protests and voting advocacy (which definitely fucking vote) happens.
