Denvil@lemmy.oneto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that there is no strict definition of a continentEnglish34·8 months agoAccording to the image on Wikipedia depicting the plates, there would then be 17 continents, although some of those 17 would be entirely ocean, or only small islands

Denvil@lemmy.oneto News@lemmy.world•Evacuation order remains in effect for Ohio town where dangerous chemical leak occurred8·11 months agoI live here! There aren’t many residential areas within half a mile of the site, the “downtown” area of Cleves is about a mile away, so the biggest damage to me personally is just that the grocery store is closed… hopefully it stays that minor, and goodluck to those who did have to evacuate
Edit: as of at least 6:30 PM, the roads are opened back up and evac order lifted. Just drove through there, still trucks and workers all around it, but seems to be wrapping up without too much incident that I’ve heard of anyways
Denvil@lemmy.oneto Games@sh.itjust.works•You're stuck on a desert island for five years. You can have three video games. What three games do you take?English7·1 year agoMount and Blade: Warband Europa Universalis 4 and dlc ofc Total War: Empire
Warband mods and Eu4 could probably carry me the entire 5 years, Empire is just a wild card
Denvil@lemmy.oneto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Found this surveillance system on my afternoon bike ride8·1 year agoGoogle translate tells me it says fireman, with the top text on the truck saying “mattafa” (??) And the bottom text saying civil
But what if your body is specifically wired to automatically dodge the hammers? Checkmate doctor

They never claimed that nuclear is bad, they claimed that the Chernobyl disaster has already negatively impacted the land enough, mining would only make it worse
