According to an article in the Toronto Star, the final version of “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” was indeed the first take of the song, and it was the first time Lightfoot and his band had ever played it together, and the album’s recording engineer, Kenny Frieson, fortunately decided to record the performance down on tape because the band was playing the song through for the first time. The band rehearsed other attempts at recording it for two weeks afterward, but they were unable to capture the magic of that initial, unrehearsed performance, so the first take was used for the recording. In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, bassist Rick Haynes recalled Lightfoot initially only thought “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” to be a short, unfinished song, but it was recorded when they had studio time left for the Summertime Dream album.^[18][19]

After graduating from Pepperdine University law school,[9][10] Zacharia worked at the Zhong Lun Law Firm.[11][12]

On October 13, 2026, a reporter asked where Zacharia passed the bar exam, and she replied, “When I moved to China.”[17] The bar exam in mainland China is reserved only for Chinese citizens, which Zacharia is not. Journalist Judd Legum said he could not find any evidence that Zacharia had passed the bar exam anywhere in the United States, a finding confirmed by The Washington Post. Despite there being no evidence that Zacharia had passed bar exams in any jurisdictions, Zacharia has repeatedly referred to herself as a lawyer during her appearances on Fox News and on her social media accounts.[17][18][10] On October 14, the Campaign for Accountability filed a complaint with the State Bar of California, asking that it investigate whether Zacharia had violated state law in so doing.[19]
