I am more amazed that he didn’t stop at 10 and think “damn this is tiresome isn’t there a one liner i could do?”. I want to know how far he went. His stubbornness is amazing but also scary. I haven’t seen this kind of code since back in school lol lol lol

Kuma@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you suddenly get abducted when you're outside (with zero witnesses), how long would it take before someone realize it and reports you missing?3·17 days agoI have thought about this because I don’t plan to have kids, and I might end up living alone in my later years. So, how long would it take for someone to find me after I have died?
Right now is it not about caring more for what is unusual. If my friends or family knew something was wrong, they would report it right away. This actually happened once with a friend. When I was very sick and didn’t answer her calls. She tried every number she could find. Eventually, she only found my sister’s phone number, who then contacted me to check if I was okay. My friend was extremely worried, she thought I was in the hospital or something.

I am unsure why, I tried playing syndicate too but I got bored of it just as I got bored of unity…
But maybe I should try unity again and have a look at that mod.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?3·21 days agoI just finished badend theater. I am unsure if I want to recommend it or not. It wasn’t hard, the story wasn’t deep. You finish it pretty fast, but it was still nice, especially if you like to chase achievements and puzzle solving. It has a fun core mechanic.
Now am I playing little nightmares 2, it is outside of my comfort zone to not be able to fight back (most of the time) and just run and hide.
My goal is to play games that actually ends, I play too many games that never ends haha
The only iPhone users I ever met who cared were back when texting cost a lot, unless you had a special plan (there was one that made it free if the person you texted had the same plan). Then smart phones came and we all switched to Kik, then WhatsApp, then Messenger (some got both or an alternative). And now we have got free texting and calling across the whole EU, yet none of my friends uses it haha
I surprise ppl with my drawing skills, and they always say my place is nice and cosy. Everyone who comes over for the first time gets weirdly surprised. I am not sure if that is a skill tho xD
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•How do you keep track of what games you have played over the years?English5·2 months agoI do the same but use collections in steam, so I move the game when done, want to play, is playing and so on, and if I really hate/dislike the game then i will hide it.
Btw i saw you had Borderlands on hold did you see the user stats on the whole Frenchies? Big red text “overwhelming negativ”, most comments was about it being spy wear so maybe change that status to Nope with Genshin impact? I haven’t really looked into it tho saw it a moment ago.

Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google quietly released an app that lets you download and run AI models locallyEnglish51·2 months agoNice! I saw Mozilla also added an ai chat in the browser recently (not in the phone version that I have seen tho).
It is too bad duck.ai only runs the small models. Gpt4o-mini is not very good, it can be very inaccurate and very inconsistent :( I would like to see the 4.1-mini instead, faster and better and got function calling, so it can do web searches for example. O3 can’t so it can only know what it knows until 2023.
But thanks for the information I will be looking out for when 4.1 is added!

Every time I try a game or app that’s supposed to teach you, it feels like I’m starting over, and it never actually becomes fun. I tried Duolingo, but after a while, I found myself just doing super easy lessons to keep my streak going so I wouldn’t have to sit through the boring ones. It felt pretty bad, so I stopped using it when I hit 800 days.
My friend didn’t use any apps and instead started by texting and talking with people and managed to learn Korean in just a year, well enough for casual, everyday conversations or hobby-related stuff. Meanwhile, I’ve been using apps and still can’t hold a conversation with anyone…
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Duolingo CEO tries to walk back AI-first comments, failsEnglish1·2 months agoI would assume it is more about time than money. It is a big investment making a whole functional system with llm (I have a hard time believing it is actually AI), it will cost a lot if done wrong (just like everything else). You can’t just prompt “make a course in Spanish” and get anything good out of it and you still need ppl who can quality check the output. I could see them use it to mass produce sentences and stories in different levels (not the actual story) and voice recordings, but not actually anything creative and I would assume that is the goal. But we have seen too many shitty products to believe in anything with llm.
It changes the UI text of the website, such as filters, titles, and sorting options, but not the descriptions.
I can’t decide which is worse, a functioning language switch that never included English for the descriptions (which is the only text I actually need translated) or a broken language switch. The way it switches languages is also quite odd, as if it’s asking, ‘Are you sure?’"
Kuma@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some of the craziest censorship instances on TV shows you have seen?2·4 months agoI am very surprised they didn’t ban it instead, the blood isn’t the worst part, especially if you have a very creative mind.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Denmark, Netherlands react to Trump's DEI ultimatumEnglish3·4 months agoSo a desperat attempt to survive the shit he is in, while still being the hot topic by create emotional engagement? Sounds more like an influencer or a cult leader…
Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Denmark, Netherlands react to Trump's DEI ultimatumEnglish28·4 months agoEvery time I read news about Trump I always wonder what his end goal is. Because he sounds so much like those end users who says unreasonable things like “you need to add/fix/change this” if it is done then they always comes back for more because they didn’t get the end come they wanted and then it all turns out they wanted something that was reasonable (or not) but they demand changes that won’t do that.
Is his end goal really getting more jobs?
And I wonder what kind of jobs he wish to create because a lot of Americans seem to have many weird jobs already like just standing in a corner pointing in a direction or taking care of your filled form by walking 3 meters to another person with it.
Kuma@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Europe goes into daylight saving time despite controversyEnglish16·4 months agoI would have never known if it wasn’t because a coworker told me or because of articles like these. My cat wakes me up at 7- 7:30 and he did that this morning too, so I was very surprised that I slept only 7 hours instead of 8 (before I knew). But the funnits part is that my cat followed DST haha

Kuma@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Bumble's new CEO is already leaving the company months after killing its signature featureEnglish21·6 months agoExactly this, they are usually young too and they know their only job is to fire ppl and/or do decisions that will make most if not all unhappy. I have only seen it once my self but a lot of friends went through that at their company.
I might not fully grasp what you said, but from my understanding, they were discussing intersex people. In these cases, it’s not an either/or situation at birth regarding sex characteristics or chromosomes. It could be a mix of various combinations, or sometimes none at all. The Y chromosome might not be fully present, which means a penis might not exist at birth, or it could be very small (and possibly non-functional for urination), but there may still be internal testicles (which I understand is quite common for some “types” of intersex ppl). In your interpretation, does this mean that there are individuals with a Y chromosome and then there is the rest of the population?
So, we have XY, XYY, XXY versus the others, who might have just one X, two Xs, or a partial Y (I think there were other combinations too). That doesn’t seem very binary to me. It’s like saying you’re either a kid (under 18 in most countries) or an adult, which doesn’t cover everyone and doesn’t say much either. But maybe we took your comment too serious.
However, labels have always been a tool to simplify life, and they have never been strictly binary. It’s similar to organizing a home with labels, there is always at least one drawer labeled other/miscellaneous.
There are as many intersex people as there are redheads, and they can have two sets of sex organs, no organs, or a combination of organs. This wide category range is why the person you responded to mentioned the parts, as these visibly influence how one’s sex is documented. Intersex conditions can sometimes make this categorization extremely challenging.
The wandering village
It is a nice little recourse management game. What makes it special is that you need to do it on the back of an ancient “animal”. If you befriend (it trusts your judgement ) or tame it can you tell it what to do like where to go (so you can pick a bio), sleep, eat, run, walk and so on. I went for the befriend route, hurting it by ripping out resources from it didn’t sit well with me (but I am very curious, because you do miss out on a lot). The story is pretty simple but it is nicely paced and I do like the lore. I actually didn’t really think the main quest would be anything special so I was happily surprised.
