  • you are asking for the impossible as they did not disclose what service do they use

So you’re applying your own personal preference and beliefs. Saying “all the while this is a major breach of privacy, for both parties, and also of trust” is just you applying your preferences and beliefs to someone else’s personal decision.

especially since with every response you sound more and more hostile.

Do I? How so? You made a statement of fact (all the while this is a major breach of privacy, for both parties, and also of trust) about someone else’s choice and situation without any information to directly support it (you are asking for the impossible as they did not disclose what service do they use).

Calling my questioning and pushback “hostile” seems like bad-jacketing to me. Maybe you’re getting defensive?

  • I have nothing to support this but I’ve always thought it was to play into middle America’s biased perception of New York/LA.

It always seems like middle Americans thought about the increased salaries in these areas with taking the CoL there into consideration. They’d think someone making huge salaries must have all this extra income without considering they’re probably paying 2-3x the cost for housing alone, if not more.

  • Way, way back in the early days of the internet when it was still all just message boards and users from universities there were discussions about data poisoning. The early forebears of users today had enough foresight to understand what the internet could be if it went the wrong way and started a collaborative project to develop tools as technology developed to combat it. They managed to keep up the project, legacy developers would move on or die but new ones sprang up in their place. It all fell apart way back in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table.
