ResoluteCatnap@lemmy.mlto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What were you wrong about for a long time? How did you realize you were wrong?English89·11 months agoBeing Mormon.
They always told us that people who gave us anti-mormon literature just made stuff up and it was Satan’s way of tempting us. They said to never take any anti-mormon literature and if someone did give it to you then to throw it away without reading.
But at the same time they taught us that the Mormon church was the true church. And they also taught us truth was absolute. Well, i figured if truth is absolute, and if the church was THE true church then it would be able to withstand any criticism. So i read anti mormon literature, like the CES letter. From there i did my own research about various things and found that the Mormon church made up a lot of stuff and did lots of gaslighting.
There was some specific issues that i also had been struggling with, like their treatment of women, gays, and black men/women. That also helped push me to want to make sure if the Mormon church was really true. And it wasn’t. Now i can love my friends unconditionally.

Just look at Fox-Legally-Classified-As-Entertainment’s clip on the fact checking, and read the comments. They took this as a sign of bias and think JD Vance won the exchange. The fact that JD Vance spelled out the legal process for them to not be illegal immigrants (iow he was lying) is lost on them.
I hope at least some people realize the gaslighting going on both from trump/vance as well as the media.

ResoluteCatnap@lemmy.mlto Games@lemmy.world•Steam does the opposite of forcing Arbitration on its usersEnglish511·11 months agoAgree or delete account is real “good guy gabe” energy.
What a fucking trash monopoly
Edit: Ok for the corporate apologists; the company gave 0 days notice to this. You HAVE to agree or you can’t access your account, which locks you out of your games. The only options you have are to agree or delete account.
At least discord allowed you to opt out by a certain date when they updated to forced arbitration. Not only is steams move here to protect their 30% take on transactions, more than double of competitors, but steam is also choosing to fuck people over who don’t want to agree. Supposedly if steam ever went under they’d let you continue to access your games but i guess they can instead just enshittify their subscriber agreement so that no one would still have an account. For instance you now agree to only access your games for 1 minute per day and you will be charged $1000 for each time you start up steam would be a great way to force people to delete their accounts so steam doesn’t have to honor their EULA.
But go ahead, keep talking about how good gabe is. Steam is a monopoly. And there are no good monopolies.
I just returned it, but my idea was a separate VLAN and block all connections except for whitelisted ones for streaming. Smart tvs/rokus/etc do a lot of talking and they could theoretically brick themselves if there isn’t an internet connection available.
The future is a wonderful place!

Doing fast food work when your are famous as a publicity stunt is desperate. One day as a pampered trainee with someone shadowing you all day is no where near the same as living day in and day out working a minimum wage fast food job, serving up shit food for customers that treat you like shit.
If i pulled up to someone doing this id laugh and ask “wtf is this” and tell them how it is. You fundamentally can’t live the fast food experience when you have billions and fast food employees are trying to figure out how to get by when they make minimum wage and never get enough hours to get any benefits.
