To be clear, I despise conservatives but I also don’t care to be represented by people who have no idea how bad their constituents have it - no matter what team they claim to play for. I have a Patreon and I promote it sometimes. I post novels and art made by myself and collaborators. Nobody cares. I don’t do endless shameless self promotion, I don’t have a pretty face, I’m not well connected, and I don’t have startup capital to produce the full range of things I’d like to make but can’t because I need a day job and am trying to get a degree.
It’s been soul crushing and every day is a struggle against giving up on it.

Yes, that would be the ones holding the gun. Predator-minded self-serving people have always been among us, and instead of handling them properly we raise them up and put them in charge over us time and time again. Religion and government, the perennial weapons used by the human enemies of humanity.
It would help if a subset of ambitious assholes weren’t taking every opportunity to profit off a genuine movement they don’t belong in. We need to weed them out early or we’re just building another exploitation machine while tearing down the existing one.
