Wasn’t it a big thing when the white house was first built that they didn’t want it to be a palace? They wanted to make it clear that it was not meant for a king.

I don’t know what racist town you’re from, but that is not reality no matter how much racists wish it was. As for a name for people who take more than anyone could ever deserve, we simply call them billionaires.
Of course everyone wants to make money. Its about HOW the money is made. If we lived in a meritocracy the way they claim, then you can measure how hard someone works by their wealth, and you’re gonna sit there and tell me there are people who work a BILLION times harder than the average person? Get the fuck outa here. Billionaires only exist because they are taking more than they deserve, and its gotta come from somewhere. They are stealing from all of us and devaluing our labor.

I was so disappointed when this guy won his election. Less than a month before the election he denied a potentially innocent man a stay of execution even after the victim’s family asked him to. He is a straight up murderer as well as everyone who supports him.
So would it be safe to say that everyone should pull their money out of the stock market before Powell’s term is up? Its a good bet that whoever replaces him will just be a yes-man, and things will crash.
I’d wait till he actually does something. His words are often nothing more than a distraction.
Sure. Anyone with nukes could give them to anyone else, but what happens after? If someone gave Iran nukes, then what’s to stop the US or France or somebody giving nukes to Ukraine or Taiwan. Ultimately it’s too big a risk. Even if two countries are close allies now doesn’t mean they will always be, and the nukes can’t be taken back once given.
Passing an exam sounds good to me, but the paranoid part of me thinks that requirement could be manipulated and corrupted. Even so, that would only give you a pool to select from. It doesnt decide who gets which position. As far as having peer selection, that would be very vulnerable to turning into a good ole boy network.
What are the other options?
Edit: why would someone down vote a question? It’s not like it’s even a leading question.
I’ll try to answer myself. Options for how a judge is put in their position:
Elected or appointed. Are there any other options?
If they are appointed then you better really trust whoever does the appointing because you will have no recourse if they are a bad fit.
What I mean is that people will usually see dogs as more innocent than even the most innocent human adult. Literally how most people feel about children. That type of innocence deserves to be protected, and failure to do so hurts more than the death of a stranger. It’s not rational, but it’s just how a lot of people feel. If those same people were to think about it rationally, they would say the loss of human lives is definitely worse.
It just depends on what perspective you choose. Obviously human life is more significant than dog lives, but a lot of people see dogs similar to children. A life of love and innocence that does not deserve to know violence. It’s not so much comparing the value of lives but the value of innocence.
That’s why they got rid of all the military lawyers, so there is no one to tell them that the orders are illegal. These soldiers better read up on the law themselves because they will be vulnerable.
That’s how you know this is all political bull shit. If they actually wanted to solve the “problem” in a much easier, more efficient way, then they would just go after the people that hire them.
Troops are bound to not follow illegal orders. This is for them. They would not be legally protected individualy if they continued.
That’s a good quote democrats should use if they’re ever back in power.
I’m pretty sure people sentenced to death get to choose their execution method, so this guy chose firing squad?
As good as admitting that the US is no longer a superpower. You can’t be isolationist and a superpower at the same time.
Feeding the ego of those on top by ANY means necessary.
They don’t raise the standard of living for the poor because they view labor as a commodity. If we made things less difficult for the poor then the price of labor will go up because people wouldn’t be as desperate. Their goal is to make the price of labor as low as possible.
