  • First off, I appreciate the response.

    Yes, I understand that if these people could have it their way, any kind of mature content would be completely illegal. The reason I don’t feel strongly about this is strictly because this isn’t a legal threat, and I don’t think it has that capacity to become one. Lobbying is expensive, and I don’t believe that an Australian organization has the capacity to seriously affect global/western culture more than this. Quite frankly, its impressive they were able to pull this much off, and I fully expect ts to blow over in 3 years tops.

    Don’t get me wrong- its not that I don’t care about censorship, its that I don’t really view this as censorship because the consumption and purchasing of the “censored” product is still completely possible. Contrarily, if this were signed into law I would have a big fucking problem with it.

    With regards to the “companies they choose to use” point I made, I was in fact referring to payment processors, hence why I proposed crypto, cash and giftcards; as in purchasing a steam giftcard with cash from a store. Obviously I don’t expect people to not have credit cards, but the anonymity and security cash provides is almost never used because people find it less convenient.

    The reason I brought this up is because I have seen it proposed that this issue will expand beyond the scope of digital marketplaces, which I find downright laughable. People WILL stop using visa cards if you can’t use it to buy condoms and there’s an ATM in the gas station.

    I firmly believe that if this issue is pressed further, at the very least Valve will js stop accepting payment directly through payment processors.


  • Yo I’m NGL I’m usually really passionate when I feel my rights are infringed but I do not feel like my rights are being infringed. This isn’t the same thing as requiring ID to view NSFW content; this issue is not a legal one.

    It’s not even like porn is js inacessible now, most of it is found on Patreon, which is both unaffected and literally accepts cryptocurrency. I will admit im suprised to see itch.io take action cos it has a reputation as a porn service, but who tf consumes porn on steam? I do not believe “what they define as NSFW will expand!” Or “next, games featuring a gay character will be banned!”, either. You are fucking bugging if you think Valve would let that happen. All they would need to do is lean heavier into steam giftcards, potentially selling them digitally, and start accepting crypto 'till the processors wanna play ball.

    I don’t understand why people are bitching that the companies that they choose to use have so much power over their purchasing decisions. “First this, next sex toys! Then contraceptives!” Like Jesus fuck bro have you not heard of cash?



  • Sounds like an issue with your cassette deck. You should definitely be getting better audio quality with a cassette adapter, mine sounds better than a normal cassette tape. Every radio frequency transmitter I have ever tried has had severe artifacting on the high end (treble), especially prevalent on “S” sounds; they come out really static-y. At any rate, your better off doing literally anything else than repairing your cassette deck if it’s cooked, but its worth a go to try a standard aux cord cassette since they’re under $10.

    I’ve actually opted to record my playlists onto cassette tapes, and I wound up using these more than the aux adapter.

    Watch birthright citizenship; If its repealed, then sure, gay marriage is on the table; but I’m willing to put money on neither of these two things changing, because they can’t do that, it’s unconstitutional.

    Positively crazy how this thread went from “gay marriage is not protected by the constitution” to “the constitution doesn’t matter anyways”. To my knowledge, the Trump administration has yet to do anything anywhere near this blatantly unconstitutional.

    There are genuine things to worry about. Trans folk are being told they don’t exist; women are dying in labor because they cant get an abortion; people who even LOOK Palestinian are being mercilessly assaulted, and your choosing to spend your time worrying about something that is INCREDIBLY unlikely to be overturned.

    I don’t have time for this thread anymore, and nor should anyone else. This is not the thing anyone should be worrying about right now; there will be signs and ample time to flee before something like this happens.





  • Even the most devout cultists understand that culling 7% (and rising) of the population in a country with a negative birth rate is a bad move.

    EDIT: I must admit, this reply has been living in my head rent free, and I have a lot more to say about it:

    Are you aware of how much the death penalty costs? It is on average $3,000,000 for the state to execute someone (legally). Assume for a second you are a billionaire oligarch. You’ve cut taxes for you and your billionaire friends and raised them for the working class. Now assume you have 7.1% of the population that earns a roughly 10% higher wage on average (please note that although the median household income is lower than average for lesbian couples, both women do still make roughly 7% more than heterosexual women, as the gay wage gap exceeds the gender wage gap)

    Now, although this percentage of he population produce more income, they are still firmly generally working class. So what do you do? Obviously you’d try to make it so they can’t marry so you can collect more from them in taxes; you wouldn’t fucking spend your tax dollars to murder them, that makes no sense.

    They’re evil, they aren’t stupid.

    The amendment was not properly interpreted prior to 2015. It would be nearly impossible to change the interpretation at this point because it would need to be changes from “…nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of laws” to “…nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of laws; except for gay people”

    There is nothing to overturn. This is not the same thing as Roe V Wade; which arguably did not have constitutional precident. Its clearly written in the 14th that all within the juridstiction of america are to have equal rights. 'Less there’s a fucking coup, that’s not changing.

    In short; marriage is constitutionally protected as a fundamental right, and the 14th amendment establishes that all laws apply to everyone within the jurisdiction of the united states equally, regardless of background.

    Marriage is also not constitutionally defined by gender, so there is no precedent to say “marriage is defined by the joining of a man and a woman” or anything along those lines, because marriage is not constitutionally defined anywhere. DOMA was thrown out because its unconstitutional; not because it was the right thing to do, just as Roe v. Wade was thrown out because it was unconstitutional; not because it was the right thing to do.
