I don’t think its a matter of stowing empathy as much as it is redirecting your energy. I still empathize with those people, but I try to focus energy on my immediate life and the people around me, and thinking about how I can help and improve their lives, support them best, etc. rather than doom scrolling and despairing. Because with the people directly around me I can have a much more tangible impact. I’d like to work up to having a more systemic impact too, but I’m still figuring out that part. But I think its helpful to have a solid base to work from first, you know?

Why are people downvoting someone for admitting they made a mistake? It takes some courage to do that.

That said, I’m pretty sure he’s just an idiot in general too. Maybe smarter than the average person, but certainly not three standard deviations smarter.
Interesting, was it always that way for you? I feel like for me with books printed on paper I’m actually a lot less picky but for e-readers (or any text on a screen really) the kerning, text size, etc. matters a lot more. The impact is definitely more pronounced for regular screens than e-ink though. Text size I find has the biggest impact on readability on screens for me in general.
Isn’t UPenn actually just Ivy League?

You seem to have all of the comprehension and logical reasoning ability of a middle schooler.
Is Mozilla even publicly traded?
If you need to finance the pizza you probably shouldn’t be having that party.
Yes, exactly. Its killing problem solving ability and learning. Taking the extra time to search around and figure things out helps you learn. Not to mention its poisoning its own well, making legitimate answers harder and harder to find on the web.
