Wow, what a short-sighted view. Android, despite its many shortcomings, gives you orders of magnitude more freedom in almost every way imaginable. And none of its shortcomings are blocking you from using it, rather more or less annoy you.

World News@lemmy.world•Donald Trump is not joking about making Canada the 51st state, Justin Trudeau warns in hot mic commentsEnglish
121·2 年前US is like a bully. But a huge, strong, armed bully, which is now also crazy and looks unpredictable. I doubt the rest of Nato, especially this castrated, limp EU would do anything to protect Canada. They would frown and condemn the us verbally, but probably watch from afar. That’s my impression at least.

World News@lemmy.world•Serbia’s prime minister and Novi Sad mayor resign as anti-corruption protests growEnglish
3·2 年前Yes, but the amount he sacrificed is less than a pawn, if you were to compare it to chess. It’s totally irrelevant that the guy is prime minister no longer, as it was just a phony position anyway.

10·2 年前Nah, not gonna happen. People think even this is a trick leading into new fixed elections and a try at dispelling the protests without consequences.
Yes, com ports work way better than in windows. I’ve done a lot of embedded development on linux and it’s way more pleasant than in windows. One thing you do have to keep in mind is that access to com ports (USB and real) requires root access by default, but once you’ve set the udev rule up, it becomes accesible to normal users and/or group of users. After that, it works flawlessly. Android dev also works great and imo better than on win. Proprietary jtags may be an issue, but I’ve never actually had an unsolvable situation.
Yes no one cares, but then a big company announces they will not serve people in animal costumes. Then people go - makes sense, it’s weird anyway. I’ve never seen a person in animal costume in person, not even as a mascot or on a kid’s birthday. It’s just not a thing here. And I’m from Serbia, it’s provably even rarer in Moldova. I would find it weird if someone explicitly said they will deny them service. It’s like denying service to dinosaurs, it’s odd. It is a good cheap marketing though.
You really don’t know Moldova, or easter Europe then. Most people don’t even know about furries and their first reaction is not going to be positive. People are cautious about new and strange things and ultimately get scared of them. They look at this as preserving what is normal to them. I’m sorry, most of the world is conservative, not progressive.

Linux@lemmy.ml•More Rust Code Is Coming For Linux 6.14 Along With Hitting Another "Major Milestone"English
7·2 年前As a rust developer, I’m biased, but I think it might be a great thing, if done properly. I’ve also done some kernel dev a while back and it’s full of kernel-specific macros and conventions and boilerplate code. It would at least improve readability and reduce some boilerplate as well as improve on some common security bugs. But seeing as how different C is in kernel context to regular application, this may be the same for Rust, in which case I hope the devs know what they’re doing, because it can easily get out of hand.

I’ve never tried it, but there appear to be some rsync apps on f-droid, you could try.
