I have a similar docker/podman alias, except I pull first. This greatly reduces downtime between down
and up
, which is nice for critical services.

I legitimately would love to switch my friend group to a self-hosted IRC server, but chat history is important.

LLM generated text is chock-full of em-dashes for some reason. I still use regular dashes to separate clauses occasionally - like this - but not full em-dashes.

I’m a boring ass white straight cis dude. Games are a fantasy and escape from real life, maybe I wanna play as a chick or black guy or trans person or alien or something, fucking who gives a shit. I played Persona 5, and I wasn’t mad that I’m not actually a 16-year-old Japanese boy.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Games@lemmy.world•Nintendo has sent a DMCA notice to Ryujinx forksEnglish2·6 months agoI didn’t buy a $1200 PC to play TotK. I already had a $1200 PC and decided I wanted to use it to play the game I paid for (and dumped with my own console) with better performance.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Games@lemmy.world•SteamOS expands beyond Steam DeckEnglish3·8 months ago99% accurate, but to clarify, dxvk only translates DirectX versions 8-11 to Vulkan. vkd3d translates DX12 games.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•All the other brands went alongEnglish2·9 months agoThat’s one of the cool things about the framework, though, just the fact that you can, because I swap my ports all the time. I use it to game on my big TV at home, but I almost never need an HDMI port on the go, so I pop it out and pop in another USB-C or something.

I think it’s my favorite original romhack so far. I’m planning on playing Insurgence next, although that’s a fan-game as opposed to real romhack.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Games@lemmy.world•Game Freak has been allegedly hacked, with source codes for Pokemon games reportedly leakedEnglish1·11 months agoRadical Red and Polished Crystal are peak, in my opinion. I can’t go back to the lack of special/physical split, it’s just awful.
One of my company’s customers is a DoD contractor that uses the government version of Teams, which does require Chromium, unfortunately. Or at least, I haven’t found a way to make it work on Firefox yet.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft wants to hide the 'Sign out' button in Windows 11 behind a Microsoft 365 adEnglish1·1 year agoI disagree, it’s a statement of fact. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that fact that you’re lazy about fiddling with computers. I’m lazy about certain things in my own life.
But it’s pointless trying to convert lazy people to Linux when it requires an effort level above 0 and they don’t want to put in anymore than that.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft wants to hide the 'Sign out' button in Windows 11 behind a Microsoft 365 adEnglish1·1 year agoCool, you’re lazy, gotcha.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft wants to hide the 'Sign out' button in Windows 11 behind a Microsoft 365 adEnglish1·1 year agoNo, I literally had to add one change to the game launch properties one time. It took me probably 3 minutes of googling and following instructions. I wouldn’t call that “a bunch of fucking shit”.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft wants to hide the 'Sign out' button in Windows 11 behind a Microsoft 365 adEnglish1·1 year agoCool, me too.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft wants to hide the 'Sign out' button in Windows 11 behind a Microsoft 365 adEnglish1·1 year agoHelldivers 2 works almost perfectly on Linux. I had to nest it in a gamescope session to fix some weird mouse issues, but that was it. I dual-boot Windows and I’ve never even launched it there.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How do I donate to everyone working on Lemmy?English0·2 years agoSo, that one developer is the main developer of Lemmy, and you may be surprised to find out there are only two of them. Lemmy is open source and takes contributions from others, but its development is driven by two full time devs.
If you want to donate to development, that’s how to do it. If you want to donate to a specific instance to keep it online, then follow any donation instructions in your instance’s sidebar.
frozen@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyzto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•If I self host a Lemmy instance for just myself and maybe a few friends are there any risks?English1·2 years agoText is copied to your instance’s database, but any images are hosted on the other instances and simply linked to. Worst case scenario, you get told to delete something that’s illegal in the country in which you host the instance, you comply, and everything’s peachy.
Edit: That being said, I’m currently hosting an instance for myself and a few friends, and it’s been smooth-sailing. Just make sure to require email verification or admin approval for new sign-ups (or disable them entirely) if you don’t want to be overrun with bots.
As a T1 diabetic, artificial sweeteners don’t affect my blood sugar either. Caffeine does, though, unfortunately.
