Same. Making less but similarly the consumerism has all but died in our young family. Just healthcare and food for the most part.

The fact that top comments on Lemmy, a sophisticated platform, still don’t provide much leverage is a little worrying. I hope we can find a collective way to raise awareness in a news blind world. Shows how far the system has worked to block out civil protest moving markers anymore. My hope is that organized non-violent marches and banners becomes so prevalent that it’s impossible to ignore. Like how MAGA got its image annoyingly all over rural America.
Had the same experience in Ann Arbor, MI. The next day I learned they have a squirrel feeding club and a kid walked around in the morning with granola bars throwing them out to a circle of 20 chubby squirrels
I wonder where you visited! Grey squirrels are rare where I’m from in the US, 90% brown in midwest
I have a friend somewhere in the CDC and it has just been chaos, petitions, layoffs, investigation into ‘dissenting opinions’, and more! These are people who want to protect our people from chemicals and more. Ughhhhhghghghghfjqlwoeux
I live near an AI Taco Bell. It works pretty damn well and is a lot easier to understand. There is still a cashier, they just don’t have to be on the mic the whole time. Although, the t-bell near me also seems to almost entirely ESL inside. It’s quite a bizarre experience end-to-end but they will certainly not back down. I’m not saying I support it but it’s certainly one of the less evil AI implementations?
Yep. Leading up there were red flags but, like you said, so many green flags as well. What a let-down! Helped nerds brace for impact when Star Wars came back though
I am millennial as well! I guess this is a both/and scenario
(Every generation loves this, no?)
Imagine the shear amount of waste that guy helped put on the planet! A few spots away from a real life villain!
Mildlyinfuriating
This one cracks me up.
I support this but I find it fascinating the steam this can build and quick activism with guides and yet I never see any of this stuff when it comes to political policies
For me, knowing my spouse’s location is just convenient for knowing ETA without bothering her. It’s not really about trust at all
I know there was a more common everyday wine with pretty low alcohol content and not much to any sweetness. Alcohol was a good way to ensure clean drinking water and naturally keeps out a lot of bad bacteria. That’s why drinking wine is way more common in the Bible AFAIK
https://www.amazon.com/ELUTENG-Enclosure-Protocol-Adapter-External/dp/B08H22BV1N There are dozens like this in all sorts of tech stores. Definitely bigger than a usb driver but not THAT much bigger
It seems to be a huge lottery. I’ve only had one or two fail but that was like 2008. Supposedly there is some sort of data rot or failure rate but I’ve never experienced it. Seems highly random
I’ve been using the OG tradfri devices since 2017/18 and have been very happy. Reliable, cheap to add a lightbulb or switch. Just works. Even integrated with home assistant v easily
Somehow the idea of a raccoon is scarier to me and always causes me to wake up and start growling like some prehistoric dingus
Isn’t efficiency just getting closer and closer to a perpetual machine? Using science and the physics to the absolute limit!
