It’s amazing, tbh, one thing I didn’t expect from this entire situation is that the judiciary starts to really flex their literary and theatrical muscles in their authority, because while most legal business is rote ritual, they take advantage of that with this, and allow their legal opinions and the weight of their urgency to be seen

What kind of implementations do you mean? The last time I heard of such a thing (a few years ago), it was fixed within a few hours, and was on a dev instance

The courts have prepared for expedited process for election cases, shortening deadlines and speeding up cases, so hopefully it should cut short legal schenanigans, and actually resolve shit wayyy before certification deadlines

The fact that the guardian is now at a point where they’re calling out their lies should be a cause of concern imo, if other news outlets are not doing it, since the guardian is often anything but fact-checkers or “on the right side” of a majority of these kinds of stories

It’s very close to the election, but this is a good filing wrt what is actually happening here, shame that it’ll likely only matter when Harris gets in office, since trump can just throw it out if he becomes president, and it’ll not matter anymore then.

In a world where everything revolves around pushing the most information inside a short attention span, this can matter a lot. A clip can go viral, become a meme, become repeated and played again and again, it doesn’t matter what someone did over a few months if everything they hear about that person is what they did in a couple of seconds.

Having trump calling someone the N-word, on video, would become a lightning rod of confirmation that people can shove into others’ faces, and show them that “do you want to vote for this man”? It doesn’t take 1 hour of explanation, it takes 10 seconds of a sideline TikTok video.

This could turn around any moment though, currently the spotlight is on Harris because she’s new to the race, and we’re seeing the GOP reactions. But once the GOP gets their members properly turned around to a strategy, probably in a month, they’ll have found something to talk about that brings trump in the spotlight again.
