Upvote is mostly if I want better visibility for the post and that is the intended feature even if you do not agree. Sometimes I upvote comments that I like, because comments are not really about that and more about opinion. I do not have downwote option on my instance, nor can I see the down votes which is fine for me.

I get that some people need them due to disability or some other reasons but not obviously as many as there are. I have never in my life ordered food to my house, much less download an app for it. I live in a city, a supermarket is like 5 minutes away.
kalipixel@reddthat.comto Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit Plans Extra Verification Steps To Detect The Human-Like AI BotsEnglish6·3 months agoIt already blocks me from reading access for some time because of VPN. I have to use libreddit on the web or redreader on mobile to access. This made me lurk reddit less, never had an account there anyway.

I created an account on mastodon with guerillamail which would be even more suspicious for an average website than your alias email. A tip, if you do not mind using icloud email, you can even create one with some effort without giving real personal data and using apple hardware (Virtual machines ftw), you can take advantage of its free alias email addresses which would be accepted even on most strict websites.
kalipixel@reddthat.comto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How much do you donate to open source projects per month? How much time do you spend using their software? How does that compare to proprietary software / games?2·3 months agoAt least a couple of dollars one time donation if I used the software for some time. If it is very useful software for me I donate more often. I try to avoid proprietary software for ideological reasons, so can’t really compare for this reason.
kalipixel@reddthat.comto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•There are now Youtube channels entirely made by A"I"22·3 months agoIn several years it will probably be more of these channels to the point of being very prevalent on YouTube. Even if the AI stocks crash, the technology is there and like now and before there will be companies or individuals making low effort slop for clicks and money.
kalipixel@reddthat.comto Technology@lemmy.world•Chips aren’t improving like they used to, and it’s killing game console price cutsEnglish191·3 months agoThe consoles unless you root or jailbreak them are too restrictive anyway. For older games you can just use an emulator on your PC or mobile.
You can try and later post peertube/youtube link. Nobody can really guarantee that it will be interesting for them until they see it.

But this has an impact on everyone to some degree. You may use Linux, but does your family, friends, your doctor, your teacher or boss, and whoever else who has some of your personal data?
Not complying with DMCA takedowns in EU would hurt American tech related companies way more than all of these fines combined.
Your options are XMR(monero), cash or barter. Or hawala as the other poster described here, but I do not know much about that.
