I forgot to reply but thanks for that perspective, it is valuable to see other societies and their culture, but we probably want to swap out airplanes for electric trains in that case.

Uhh? I don’t agree with them that it’s that big of a deal but he did a lot more than being an idiot, he tried (and almost succeeded) to kill a petition that many people dedicated months of their life to because he’s a narcissist who refuses to change his opinion, and he would very clearly do it again if given the chance. I would say pitchforks are justified.
Aren’t airplane flights and cars and just waste in general bigger contributors? I’m all for more people going vegan but I remember a carbon footprint analysis saying some of the worst contributors were planes cars waste and then food. Having a kid was the biggest contributor but that’s a bit obvious.
Not false at all but a big part imo is also learned, it’s like if I have 10 problems, 5 of which are totally my fault, and the only one talking about the other 5 says “ALL your problems are not your fault.”
It’s like one person actually fully reflected their experiences back to them, but then peddled a ton of lies along with it.
I agree with you, but if you look at the video he’s not pointing it down holding it weakly, he’s got it pointed slightly below waist level basically ready to fire. It seems like he’s not ABOUT to fire, but he’s in a combat stance with the rifle and his hand position being ready and shooting in less than a second. If you hadn’t been looking at him the whole time I could easily see someone thinking he had just raised his weapon and was about to shoot.
As a legitimate question what do I do if someone else is like this? Being around that makes me feel sad because I don’t feel trusted and like they think I’m dangerous, I don’t want to try and force it or anything, and fully understand why they are that way, it’s just I really don’t like feeling like “you are dangerous.”
Just reminding people this handy button exists!
Sure, but at the same time all of the worst comments I’ve seen have been from instances that were mainly linked to from reddit i.e. lemmy.world. Like, rage inducing misinformation. I prefer the much higher quality of discussions on lemmy which I would rarely see on reddit, but it is tiring seeing linux lotr star trek politics be 99.9% of the content / discussions…
I mean sure, what you said is true, but you can’t deny that when given a choice they consistently choose comfort over doing the right thing. It’s the same reason people will say “I really should be vegan” and keep eating meat. While that’s the normal human thing to do, I can still call them out for doing the wrong thing because it’s easy. They also had many many opportunities to turn away from the propaganda when it started to become more insane, but they remained because it was comforting and change would be too difficult.
just now realizing everything I have done in my life in trying to contribute less plastic and waste less is not even 0.00001% compared to the environmental damage these executive orders are going to do.
But Trump may be willing to take a “win” on a funding deal that cuts a significant amount of what he saw as “pork,” the source continued
I’m confused as to what was left out, the rejected bill tried to increase the debt ceiling and removed funding for children’s cancer research, among other things. The only change mentioned is the removal of the debt ceiling increase. Republicans finally reducing government waste by denying children’s cancer research funding…?
I’m glad for you that you don’t have any of the republican stereotypes currently in your life.
This is why I use it, also the more people who use it the more accurate it is
I find this happens any time I engage with anything anyone on the right also likes watching, like a gun channel, or a non-political video from a right leaning channel. I think the algorithm is just saying “I saw a republican watch this once so if you watched it there’s still some chance you’ll engage with this right wing content.”
I think it pushes it so heavily because it’s a gold mine (to the algorithm) since content by those channels is so heavily consumed.
You’d be surprised how hard it is to get on in life if you’re surrounded by people like this, you can’t just ignore half the people around you all the time, especially if you’re forced to interact with them.
Probably mostly to do with being a woman, though even if a nerdy looking dude came in they’d probably get similar treatment. Partially just how they expect someone who “knows what they’re doing” to look like (mechanics knowledge = man in jeans)
You’d be surprised how often one fanfic in a sea of fanfics can leave a lasting impression on someone.
Semi related but it’s actually so irritating how I have to go through life where my value as a human being is decided by how much money I make, how many girls I get, how successful I am when I could not care less about any of that, but I will get judged severely for it if anyone “finds out” that I’m not successful in… things I don’t care about…
Like why is that my value to people? I don’t want to have kids with you, you don’t have to live my life, if it’s fun and rewarding being around me why is that not enough? It seeps in even to progressive speech where people will say “clearly he gets no women” like that decides their value as a person. Very cringe. Also don’t forget to downvote for minimizing male loneliness as men can’t get women for the 9999th time.
