It’s absolutely not the same thing. I used to play a lot as a kid (still do) and I have no problem with today’s kids doing the same. But I want them to be able to enjoy games without constantly being manipulated into spending as much money as possible.

And it’s not just about kids either, I think these predatory tactics affect adults too.

It’s not a moral panic, the problem is capitalism.

I think it’s a cool idea but the intermission tracks are just so boring to me.

Yeah same, I’m on another continent but it’s great to see good news out of America for once. I’m happy for New Yorkers!

Probably something like this:

• Slay the Spire with mods
• Kerbal Space Program with mods
• Trackmania 2020 with all maps from Trackmania Exchange downloaded
• Path of Exile
• Cities: Skylines or Planet Zoo (with mods)

I’d also like to bring Factorio (with mods of course) but I’m not sure what to replace

I learned how to do it over 10 years ago but I’ve forgotten since. And I only knew a slow method.

I feel like play time per money spent mattered when most people were buying offline games at full price but to me it hasn’t been relevant for a long time. I might pay full price for a game that is incredible for 5-10 hours but a game that is mediocre for 100 hours I wouldn’t even play for free.

I don’t think they’re ignorant, they’d just rather support the fascists than the progressives.

The Steam Deck is just a Linux PC, you can absolutely mod games on it!

I’m playing modded Slay the Spire a lot on mine.

It’s also ridiculous that they suggest that people are influenced by social pressure or even marketing to become trans. Not only does this not happen, if it did happen it would not work. Conversion therapy does not work. You can’t make people trans just like you can’t make people cis. If people who are actually cis transition they get gender dysphoria and become miserable.

This is just conservative fearmongering with no basis in reality.

So what protections are in place in the US to prevent surgery being done for the same ‘wrong’ reasons?

The difference is you’re not forced to get it under the threat of death. And I’m not American, but as far as I know you also need a psychological evaluation to get it.

If the healthcare system was actually brainwashing people into getting surgeries they don’t need that would be a general issue, not specifically a trans one.

In reality the regret rates for gender affirming surgery is usually found to be under 1%, which is extremely low and lower than almost any other type of surgery. See e.g. A systematic review of patient regret after surgery.

First time seeing this but you got me, now I really want to press that button. Why am I so easily manipulated?

I was also thinking of NecroDancer. For most players (including myself) the game is already difficult without these extra challenges.

If you have an iOS device and AirPods you can actually do this.

On another related note, I wish I could use my earbuds to listen to two devices at the same time. Like my phone and my Steam Deck.

Can’t listen to music while watching a video or listening to a podcast.

It’s so much fun to watch other people figure things out. It’s the closest we can get to playing the game again.

Dual booting NixOS and Windows 11 on my desktop, macOS on my laptop.

I’d get rid of Windows if it wasn’t for some games that are annoying on Linux.

Definitely polar bear. They look so cuddly but I would be terrified to even see one from afar.
