This is the first time in the history of the world that current Gen consoles have gone UP in price. Games hardly go down in price anymore.
Retro games used to be cheap. Now everyone and their mother knows they’re not just old children’s toys, and think everything is a collectible. And these days, they might not even be wrong! Not to mention thrift stores and sometimes even garage salers are trying to charge eBay prices for everything they have.
I’m just holding onto digital games and Steam sales and such…and, well, piracy of course. (But storage is expensive too…)

Cocktails are so expensive these days. I have a very high alcohol tolerance and it’s 10-20$ as bare minimum for <1$ of ingredients. 5 negronis + tip and you’re down at least a 100$. I’m more of a smoker these days but taking people out is such a luxury. If you have 3 friends visiting and buy couple rounds you’re in a triple digit bill already.
A sandwich. A cheesesteak in Norway cost just over $30.

Assuming you’re from Finland, Hieno Mokka in LIDL costs 5€ a pack and is indistinguishable from Juhla Mokka.
Juhla Mokka is not my cup of coffee but Lidl does have affordable options. Herkku coffees from S group are surprisingly good as well and cost ~5€. I used to buy Nordqvist Reko, it was a decent and pretty affordable fairtrade & organic option. Nowadays I mostly drink tea.
i think coffee was always expensive if you want the good stuff(in the states) the cheap brands are cheap for a reason. i think because coffee requires such a intensive and specific environment to grow. thats why the customers are often well off, and almost no “middle class or poorer buys them”
Coffee and TV are the only things beating the last 5 years of inflation.

i think it was always expensive, i shop around for the cheapest yet decent quality dental experience. university dental care, if you can tolerate the wait time, some emergency services are more immediate.

Basically any fast food. Within my lifetime fast food went from cheap end of week treat, to being a complete ripoff that’s almost never worth shelling out for…
Which is weird cause the price of actual restaurants hasn’t gone up as much during that time, so it now oftentimes makes more sense to just go to an actual restaurant where you’ll (usually) get better food in better portions

I remember $0.39 cheeseburgers at McDonalds and $0.79 bean burritos at Taco Bell.
But this was when gas was $0.89/g and we didn’t live under fascism.
Yeah when taco bell is $40 for two of us and going to the sit down Mexican restaurant is $40, I’m going to pick food that gives me leftovers every time.
40$ is on the low end, think 70-100+ $, for people addicted to eating out.

Taco Bell being cost-prohibitive is so wild to me. I remember going there so many times in high school in the 90’s and being able to get a veritable feast for $5.
No matter what you get it’s 90% beans, veggies, cheese, and corn. There’s no reason for this product to be high dollar except for motherfucking CEO’s.
I remember the taco bell challenge, order 10 dollars of food and try to finish it all. Now you can’t get a meal for that price…

My wife and I went out this year and the bill was $200 for a sit down Italian in our suburban town. I don’t even like Italian.
We did a tiki lounge more recently in the city and it was $150.
These are nicer ish places but like, that’s a lot.
You have to use there apps and points and shit to get it cheap, but it can be cheap. They’re basically in the business of wasting poor people’s time and collecting their data these days
I stopped most fast food years ago. It’s basically only an option in the rare situation that I need food “fast” and wont be home to eat it, and even then I avoid them more and more.
If I’m going home, I’ll order delivery or take out from a real restaurant. More-better food for same-less money.
That’s not even considering that I meal prep and cook at home even more, but even what little bit I still want to not cook myself… It’s not going to be restaurant prices for worse food.

I get burgers to go from sit down places cause they’re better, full on burgers and not some slice of meat and filler measurable in the millimeters for the same price if not cheaper. I get a mushroom Swiss from IHOP for like $12 plus tip(yes typing culture sucks, but it’s the system we live in and I’m not going to stiff a kid cause I don’t agree with someone they have little control over). And I get legit big onion rings to boot!
Theres a perfectly good bbq resturant near me thats typically cheaper than mcdonalds.
