Verification Codes.
One-Time my ass, more like, repeated times. I’m so tired of verification codes up the ass these days. Just today, I had to reset my PayPal password. So that meant there was a code sent to an e-mail address after the reset process was set, to begin with. Then I had to go through the obstacle of verifying the information of the account. And then even after the password was reset, I’m sent ANOTHER freaking code right after!
And it’s even more frustrating to deal with, with my bank. I’ve gotten random verification checks for making internal transfers within my account. Things I’ve done without any issue. But just one day, I got THREE verification checks to do what I needed to do!
This verification shit has gotten out of hand! I want it to just die, just like captcha. Whatever purpose they originally were intended to do, is lost in translation, because now they’re just obstacles that wastes our time every minute we have to bother with them.
People answering their own question in the post rather than making a separate comment.
Sms verification that you can’t disable and replace with another method
This shit’s so annoying because I can’t receive sms when travelling overseas.
Advertisement Agencys every one of them and to be quite real the people can go with them.
Needing to create account for apps and sites where the account provides zero additional value.
Ah, but it provides value to them.
(and that’s the problem)
I would love it if pollution could just go away. Preferably to somewhere outside the environment
Cigarettes
Perfumes and colognes!! Yes, I get it. It’s sometimes used to cover certain product smells, but ffs there needs to be a limit. It overstimulates my brain and puts me in anxiety mode. Last time I dined out, my chicken cordon bleu tasted like Axe body spray and Chanel from the next table over. How do people wear so much scent?!
My least favourite is when you’re swimming laps and a woman in the next lane is shedding an oil slick of perfume into the water. Gag!
I avoid public places unless I’m wearing an N-95. Like most people, I don’t like going to the dentist. Now it’s going to be so much worse.
billionaires
There are plenty of established businesses that offer to enter those codes for you.
Hunger/Thirst, Undertreatment, Undereducation.
Fireworks.
I live in the Netherlands and New year’s eve is hell on earth here. Even the weeks leading up to it are bad. This year is the first year that consumer fireworks are banned, but of course there are already people going to Germany, Belgium or Poland to buy them anyway. And it’s not just the pretty stuff, it’s more like bombs. It would be so much better if it just disappeared.
I’m in Florida, US, and backyard fireworks on NYE are huge here. Alcohol and fireworks. What could go wrong? And let’s not forget about the animals and people with PTSD who are affected. Of course, we’re not just limited to NYE. They do it any major holiday, and days before and after. I hate it.
Advertisements. They are freakin’ everywhere!!
This could be a long list, not sure.
- AI - no more data centers, no more vibe coded junk, all CEOs drinking the AI Kool-aid need to go away.
- Mass Surveillance - Online, offline, and in cars.
- Politicians - Especially those who make laws about things they don’t understand.
- Science deniers - no more religion, no more fake news, no more alternative facts.
- Bigtech.
- Fossil fuels.
On a more personal level:
- Filler words in the spoken word - “I mean”, “um”, “like”.
- Tailgaters - Just fuck off, I’m driving the speed limit (usually a few over) and if that isn’t fast enough, tough cookie.
- Lazy co-workers -
- No more scented products - perfumes, body wash, laundry products, etc.
I get your list. In case of politicians I’d rather remove those who only act in their own interests.
For your personal list: Ist there something wrong with scented products I don’t know about or so you just dislike the smell of them?
I agree with what you say about politicians.
Scented products either give me a headache or hurt my throat. Wearing an N-95 helps a lot.
US-defaultism on Lemmy. It’s gotten so bad, many users absolutely don’t seem to realise that they’re writing to an international audience.
Omg what happened? There were some months I wasn’t on the Fediverse but I thought the European presence here was strong?
I have a Canadian flag with my username but it doesn’t help. Just yesterday someone tried to win an argument with me by bring up health insurance.
FWIW I don’t see a flag when you make a comment.
We don’t need a stupid app for every separate thing. And don’t force a redirect to the mobile app instead of the website.
