we need patriarchy fuelled capitalism to end so bad. this is a world of violence and cruel power games, with its main victims being the poor and homeless, children, women and all workers. we need to dismantle this shit.

I hope to see more awareness of this in the close future.

Im not implying anything. There is no such thing as patriarchal capitalism there is just capitalism.

You are complicating the issue by adding sexism to the mix.

Capital doesnt care if its male or female. Capitalists only care about their bottom line.

I get that you see mostly men in power but the truth is it would be the same if women owned the means of production.

So there is no such thing as ethical capitalism there is just capitalism and its destroying our world and society.

Patriarchy is a tool capitalism uses to keep the people fighting amongst themselves. Nesting dolls of bigotry.

how is bringing up patriarchy - the system which enables capitalism and vice versa - added sexism?

we’ve all agreed for a long time that “capitalism is bad”. did anything change? the only way to change things is to look very closely and with awareness at what and who keeps these power dynamics up. if you think patriarchy has nothing to do with this, I highly recommend you educate yourself about it. I wonder why even on lemmy so many don’t get this connection.

Its almost always white women who bring up patriarchy because they get to excuse themselves from the system that they’ve support and benefited from

Then don’t call it a patriarchy. If you want true equality then recognize the system favors whiteness over sex

intersectional feminism is fully aware of the various factors that lead to oppression, and is aware that skin color is the biggest one of them as well.

I don’t have a problem saying we need to get rid of white supremacy in the first place. which is everyones job, mine too. patriarchy is a system of oppression as well though that needs to die.

I hoped that if nothing else, all the rape cases would show more clearly how much more rape and sexual oppression is going on than what people imagined, or rather, pretended

Maybe capitalism enables patriarchy through entrenched power structures propping up men, but it generally enables all kinds of cultural hierarchies as tools to keep the masses divided. Singling out any division as something that enables capitalism doesn’t make much sense.
