For this specific one, I put them in water after I cut the tops off and grow them more for a while. I get about 3x the total amount before they stop doing well.
If you are growing them anyway you may want to look into Egyptian walking onions. I started growing them recently and looks like they should make good spring onions. Self propagating if you leave them for a while.
I am just extending the life of the store bought green onions on my kitchen counter so I get more for my money. I’ve never heard of Egyptian walking onions, but I’ll look them up and see how viable it is. Thanks.

You can still buy them at Costco cheap when they’re in season, like 200 for a couple bucks.
green onions is produce that doesn’t stay fresh for very long. Need to eat whole bunch within 3 days.
