The sad part is the substance doesn’t even matter much, what matters is that it was a successful attack. Had it been a gun she’d be dead. That’s always been on the table for any politician. In fact, one could make a pretty strong case that a big part of our current problems stem from the fact that modern American politicians seem to have forgotten that they are just skin bags full of meat like the rest of us. They’re supposed to be aware of the possibility that any random person has the ability to walk up and shoot them in the face. This should encourage them to make decisions with everyone’s best interests in mind. Clearly they don’t worry about that possibility nearly as much as they should.
The substance could have been important if it was floric, nitric, sulfuric, hydrochloric or other acids. Even tile cleaner would be pretty bad.
It could also have been puz from some hard to cure disease or poison.
It doesn’t matter now since she is still alive and well.
